PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of crack in a capacitor element by improving the variation of density of valve action metal powder for a capacitor element 1, in which a flat plate type lead wire 3 is embedded into the formed body of the valve action metal powder. SOLUTION: The solid state electrolytic capacitor employs the capacitor element 1 consisting of the lead wire 3 constituted of the valve action metal and embedded into the formed body 2 of the valve action metal powder. The lead wire 3 is formed so as to have a flat plate type, and the corner of the lead wire 3 is provided with a tapered part or a curved part. The tapered part or the curved part guides the valve action metal powder upon forming the capacitor element whereby the variation of density of the valve action metal powder in the capacitor element 1 is improved.
