PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal display element and a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal display element, excellent in low drive voltage characteristics in a low temperature region without using a highly volatile compound, having high voltage retention and which can be driven by an active element. SOLUTION: The composition for a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal display element comprises a liquid crystal compound represented by general formula (I-a), a polymerizable compound represented by general formula (II-b) (wherein A<SP>1</SP>, A<SP>2</SP>and A<SP>3</SP>each denotes a 1,4-phenylene group, a 1,4-cyclohexylene indane-2,5-diyl group or the like; B<SP>5</SP>, B<SP>6</SP>and B<SP>7</SP>each denotes a single bond, an alkylene group or the like; Z<SP>1</SP>and Z<SP>2</SP>each denotes a single bond, -CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>- or the like; R<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>3</SP>and B<SP>4</SP>each denotes an alkyl group or the like; and X<SP>1</SP>denotes F, Cl or the like) and a polymerization initiator.
