PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recycling method which is superior to that of conventional ones in safety characteristics when a building material is recycled as a charcoal. SOLUTION: A building material to which a paint containing a heavy metal is deposited is carbonized to the charcoal and the remaining heavy metal in the charcoal is adsorbed and fixed by a heavy metal adsorbent. As the remaining heavy metal in the charcoal carbonized from the building material to which the paint containing the heavy metal is deposited is adsorbed and fixed by the heavy metal adsorbent, the heavy metal such as copper and chromium (in a preservative treating agent of the paint) which remains in the charcoal even if carbonized, is disabled (making stable and safe by fixing) by fixing with the heavy metal adsorbent.
