PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inter-road-vehicle communication system capable of extending a communication available range by using both wireless communication and wired communication using a communication cable whose attenuation characteristic differs from a frequency. SOLUTION: The inter-road-vehicle communication system 1 uses a communication cable 6 for communication between a CATV station 3 and a local base station 5 and carries out wireless communication between a local base station antenna 7 of the local base station 5 and an on-vehicle unit 8. At a place with a high signal attenuation wherein wireless communication is not available even when a MODEM 15 amplifies the power of the signal within a prescribed range depending on a received level, the on-vehicle unit 8 uses a propagation characteristic arithmetic means 21 to calculate a propagation characteristic of a radio wave on the basis of a reception level obtained from a reception level detection means 20, present positional information obtained from a present positional information acquisition means 18, and vehicle drive information obtained from a vehicle speed sensor information acquisition means 17 and an acceleration sensor information acquisition means 19 and uses a transmission/reception level adjustment means 14 to increase the level of the signal.
