PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material excellent in storability at high temperature and high humidity, having a good color tone after development, and ensuring little color tone change, and to provide an image forming method. SOLUTION: In the heat developable photosensitive material having a photosensitive layer containing a photosensitive silver halide on at least one surface of a support, a compound represented by formula (1) is contained, wherein R<SB>11</SB>represents H, halogen or a substituent; and Z<SB>11</SB>and Z<SB>12</SB>each represents a group of nonmetallic atoms required to form an N-containing heterocycle.
