PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pile knitting method by a flat knitting frame capable of forming a pile stitch with a composite needle while keeping the other stitches. SOLUTION: A yarn feeder 11b for supplying a pile yarn 22 is transferred to a carriage after receiving the supply of a tightening yarn 21 to a hook 7c of a needle body 7a and the pile yarn 22 is received with the hook 7c. The needle body 7a is lifted to a tuck position at the front needle bed 3 while keeping the old loop 23 engaged with a tongue 7d of a slider 7b. The tightening yarn 21 is held in the hook 7d of the needle body 7a. When the pile yarn 22 is supplied from the yarn feeder 11b to the hook 7c, the tightening yarn 21 and the pile yarn 22 are held in the hook 7c.
