PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer of a thermal transfer system which improves the printing quality by properly setting a heating value of each heating element and enabling highly precise temperature control. SOLUTION: An estimated heating value P(xh) of a calculation object heating element xh based on printing data is calculated by a printing data processing means 31. A contribution ratio T(R(x)) of a heating value received by the calculation object heating element xh from a near heating element, and a quantity of near heat S(x) received by the calculation object heating element xh from the near heating element are calculated by a quantity of near heat calculating means 32. A heating value command value Q(xh) of the calculation object heating element xh based on the estimated heating value P(xh), the contribution ratio T(R(x)) and the quantity of near heat S(x) is calculated and set by a heating value command value setting means 33. The heating value command value Q(xh) is carried by a driving circuit 2 to each of heating elements 11a-11n.
