PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an original plate of a rod lens array by which the rod lens array can be efficiently manufactured as compared with a conventional manufacturing method because a process for sticking two substrates to each other can be performed only by one step. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the original plate of the rod lens array by performing the following steps (1) to (5) in order comprises a step (1) for rotating a frame body like an N-vertex prism (N≥3) having rotation axes on both bottoms around the rotation axes and winding a rod lens of continuous length around the side peripheral surface of the frame body at a required pitch, a step (2) for sandwiching the rod lens wound around the frame body by two base plates each of which is prepared by coating one surface with adhesive so that respective adhesive surfaces are turned to the inside, a step (3) for sticking the two base plates to the rod lens by pressurizing the base plates, and a step (4) for detaching the rod lens stuck to the base plates from the frame body.
