PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail structure for a passenger conveyor with a handrail guide rail formed of a material having more wear resistant, impact resistant and slidable than conventional one for guiding a handrail for the passenger conveyor such as an escalator or a moving walkway, capable of carrying out easy detection that the handrail guide rail reaches a wear limit and accomodating and treating wear debris due to wear to ensure smooth travel of the handrail, and to provide a method of manufacturing the handrail guide rail equipped therewith. SOLUTION: The handrail guide rail 4 for guiding the handrail 3 of the escalator 1 is formed of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene material.
