PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool provided with a tool exchange device capable of automatically exchanging both of a tool provided with a flange of a standard diameter and a tool provided with a flange of a diameter different from the standard diameter. SOLUTION: This tool exchange device 20 for mounting the tools 30 and 40 on a spindle 12 of the machine tool 10 has a rotatable disc-shaped tool magazine 22. The tool magazine 22 has a plurality of grippers 24a and 24b arranged along an outer peripheral edge of the tool magazine 22. The gripper 24a grips the tool 30 provided with the flange of the standard diameter and a taper shank. The gripper 24b grips the tool 40 having a taper shank having the same dimension as that in the tool 30 and provided with the flange of the diameter larger than the standard diameter.
