<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise the illuminance of output light by dramatically improving the use efficiency of the output light as lighting light. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device comprises a light emitting diode 12 which generates near-ultraviolet light as excitation light, a phosphor 16a which is excited by the near-ultraviolet light to generate white light, a first optical filter 14a which is located between the light emitting diode 12 and the phosphor 16a and passes the excitation light while reflecting the white light generated by the phosphor 16a, and a reflector 18a. Between a recessed reflection surface of the reflector 18a and the periphery of the first optical filter 14a, an opening K is formed to pass the phosphor light passed backward through the filter 14a and then reflected by the reflector 18a forward through it. Due to this structure, the light of the phosphor 16a which goes backward can be guided forward, remarkably increasing the illuminance of the light emitting device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
