PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus and a communication method for applying rate matching processing to data comprising transmission frames subjected to channel coding that can meticulously control error correction capability after the channel coding to enhance transmission efficiency. SOLUTION: The communication apparatus using a plurality of subcarriers to carry out communication includes: a designation means for designating a parameter depending on the state of a channel for each subcarrier or a subcarrier group; a division means for dividing the transmission data into partial data corresponding to each subcarrier according to the parameter; a matching means for applying matching processing that matches each number of bits of the partial data with the number of mapping bits of the corresponding subcarrier; and a transmission means for transmitting the partial data subjected to the matching processing by using a plurality of the subcarriers.
