PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning bottom sediment, by which organic sediment on the bottom can be treated/detoxified effectively at a low cost. SOLUTION: This method for cleaning bottom sediment comprises a step to lay blast furnace water-crushed slag on the bottom in a form specified in relation to organic sediment. In the concrete, a blast furnace water-crushed slag layer A1, an organic sediment layer B or an organic sediment-blast furnace water-crushed slag-mixed layer BA and another blast furnace water-crushed slag layer A2 are formed on the bottom in this order from the bottom. Otherwise, the organic sediment-blast furnace water-crushed slag-mixed layer BA and the blast furnace water-crushed slag layer A are formed on the bottom in this order from the bottom. As a result, since such a reaction system is advanced extremely efficiently that a nitrification reaction is caused firstly and a denitrification reaction is caused secondly, ammonia can be detoxified and organic sediment can be made to vanish.
