686,270. Cathode-ray tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 29, 1950 [Oct. 4, 1949], No. 23861/50. Class 39(i) [Also in Groups XXII and XXXV] Cathode ray tube deflection coils are formed of wire or sheet metal which may be self supportingly mounted on the tube and comprise two spaced closed conductors surrounding the tube at right angles to the axis and connected by two conductors parallel to the axis diametrically opposite the tube. Two sets of deflection coils may have a common annulus 41 at one end and concentric annuli 39, 51 at the other end. Loops 38, 49 in series with the annuli and the longitudinal strip conductors 40, 42 and 52, 53 respectively form the secondary windings of deflection current transformers mounted in the loops. The longitudinal strips may be subdivided into spaced parallel strips to reduce eddy currents and produce a particular distribution of current avoiding distortion. The combined line and frame scanning coils, to avoid waste of material, may be punched from sheet metal in a developed form having the conductors 52, 40 at right angles and contiguous coil units nested together, after shaping the coil units being spot welded at the junctions 46, 47. |
