<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device with which a position of an object, etc. is detected by simple structure, without deteriorating image quality as assuring convenience, and to provide a method for driving the image display device. <P>SOLUTION: The position of a contacting or approaching object is detected by the simple structure and without deteriorating the image quality as assuring the convenience since the image display device is constituted by providing a display part 1 consisting of structure in which a plurality of light emitting and receiving cells CWR containing one light emitting and receiving element are arranged and so that a light emitting side scanner 24 and a display signal driver 23 perform light emission drive of the light emitting and receiving elements based on image data generated by a display signal generation part 21, a light receiving signal selection scanner 31 drives other light emitting and receiving elements so that other light emitting and receiving elements receive light emitted from the light emitting and receiving elements and reflected on an object to be detected and the object to be detected is detected in a position detection part 34 based on a light receiving signal obtained from other light emitting and receiving elements by a light receiving signal receiver 32. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
