<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save fuel consumption as much as possible when forced regeneration processing of a particulate filter is performed by a dealer or the like. <P>SOLUTION: Particulate accumulation amount of a particulate filter 4 is estimated before start of regeneration processing of the particulate filter 4, and the maximum time for regeneration processing is established based on the estimated particulate accumulation amount. If passing time from start of regeneration processing becomes the maximum time, regeneration processing is forcedly stopped. Consequently, waste of fuel for regeneration processing can be prevented even if sensors 8, 11 or the like fail and particulate accumulation amount can not be detected precisely. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
