PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a classification method that facilitates identification for making detectable retrieval of desired information easier by visualizing information, three-dimensional space presenting method that reduces computation burden to provide a general view of an information group, and a method and means for displaying the result of information retrieval by listing rough information of corresponding files in an temporal order from latest reference or registration. SOLUTION: Information is hierarchically classified into a first level according to utilizing purposes, a second level according to knowledge fields, and a third level according to more particular items by a folder unit, and further files to be stored in the folders are subdivided into various types traversing the hierarchy to be applied a spacial classification. Applying a scheme of recording and updating a particular file at a single position on a time axis at the time of referring or registering the file, the information is put and managed in a virtual three-dimensional time and space. By displaying the hierarchical classification three-dimensionally, the information is visualized, and the contents of a folder selected by a pointer are displayed in detail in the same screen in the temporal order from the latest reference or registration.
