PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indirect heating type rotary kiln furnace capable of preventing a constitution of a device from being large-scaled and complicated, surely improving heat transfer efficiency with a comparatively simple constitution, and needing less rotating driving force. SOLUTION: In this indirect heating type rotary kiln furnace comprising a rotating drum 10 for conveying a heated object while rotating to perform heat treatment, and transferring the heat to the rotating drum 10 by circulating heating fluid on an outer surface of the rotating drum 10, a number of approximately spherical concave parts 12 are formed on the outer surface of the rotating drum on which the heating fluid is circulated.
