PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for machining capable of machining a bar-shaped body having excellent dimensional accuracy by reducing generation of polishing flaws by a centerless polishing machine and and a machining method using the tool. SOLUTION: This tool is constituted of a pressing member abutting on an end face of the bar-shaped body, a suspension member attached to the pressing member, a sliding body attached to an upper part of the suspension member, an operating member attached to the sliding body and a guide having a sliding body supporting part for enabling sliding of the slidable body to freely advance and retreat by the operating member.
