PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetite particle which is inhibited from the reactivity with a resin by covering the surface of a particle with a compound containing an element except for iron or even by not covering the surface, for the purpose of the improvements of various characteristics such as the improvements of fluidity, magnetic characteristics, electric characteristics, dispersibility, and environmental resistance. SOLUTION: The magnetite particle, in which the magnetite core particle is provided on the surface with a covering layer containing a compound having one or more kinds of elements except for iron, is characterized in that the particle, in which the above core particle is provided on the surface with the above compound having an element except for iron, undergoes a dry-type mechanochemical treatment. The method for manufacturing a magnetite particle is characterized by covering the surface of a magnetite core particle with a compound having one or more kinds of elements except for iron by a wet-type treating method and thereafter by carrying out a dry-type mechanochemical treatment.
