PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction roller type transmission easy in assembling work, by smoothly extending-contracting a compression spring. SOLUTION: In this friction roller type transmission 10, a spring storage part 38 for storing the compression spring 36 for applying a preload to a movable roller 26, is arranged on the substantially center line O<SB>1</SB>of a wedge angleαof the movable roller 26 in a housing 14.
