摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damper having a simple configuration and capable of adjusting magnitude of damping force by corresponding to a travel position. SOLUTION: A first permanent magnet 51 and a second permanent magnet 52 are provided in an outer peripheral part of a cylinder 2 by changing positions. When a piston 16A is at a neutral position, magnetic field is not applied to an annular clearance 64 (a flow passage 21A). For this reason, viscosity of magnetic fluid 6 passing through the flow passage 21A is constant, and generated damping force is not affected by the first and second permanent magnets 51, 52. When the damper 1A is contracted and magnetic field by the second permanent magnet 52 is applied to the annular clearance 64, viscosity of magnetic fluid 6 flowing in the annular clearance 64 is increased, and generated damping force is increased. Since magnetic fluid 6 passes through the annular clearance 64 directly and damping force is generated, a seal member becomes unnecessary when compared with conventional technology for obtaining damping force by slide resistance for the cylinder of the seal member in a condition in which magnetic fluid is sealed to simplify a structure.
