PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire electrode setting device of a wire type electric discharge machine capable of performing automatic setting of a wire electrode certainly. SOLUTION: The wire electrode setting device of the wire type electric discharge machine is equipped with a current feeding shoe 27 to impress the processing voltage on the wire electrode 11, a V-guide 29 for pressing the wire electrode 11 toward the shoe 27, an upper die 31 for guiding the wire electrode 11 toward a work W, a first fluid jet-feed means 23 to drive the wire electrode toward the upper die 33 using a hollow jet stream, and a second fluid jet-feed means 35 installed along a wire electrode runway and right over the work W and driving the wire electrode 11 toward the work W by a solid jet stream.
