The controller has a calculation part (302) calculating a scalar function value by using a signal. The signal is varied in accordance with impedances of variable high frequency devices, a reference signal, and a preset scalar function. A determination part (304) finds whether a direction in which the scalar value is varied is in a preset sloped direction when an impedance of one of the high frequency devices is varied. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a wireless receiver (b) an adaptive control method.
