In the case when large impact is applied during the installation operation of a disk apparatus, the reliability of the disk section cannot be secured by conventional disk section protecting methods. <??>At the time when power ON operation is carried out, in the case (1) when disk start mode setting means 14 is set in the disabling mode, disk start control means 13 carries out control so as to start a processing section 17 without starting a hard disk 12, and in the case (2) when the disk start mode setting means 14 is set in the enabling mode, the disk start control means 13 carries out control to start the hard disk 12 and the processing section 17. <IMAGE>
