The installation has a conveying unit (1) that conveys wastes from an unloading zone (2) towards a sorting unit (3). The unit (1) permits temporary dynamic storage of the wastes, and includes two sections (11). The unit (3) has a detection unit to detect undesirable substances or units e.g. toxic waste such as paint, present in the wastes. A grab (33) evacuates the undesirable substances or units. An independent claim is also included for a waste treating method.
