The device has a source of infrared radiation affecting the lining of the skis with wax laid on it. The IR radiation source moves along the lining of the ski. The lining of the ski moves past the IR radiation source. The source of infrared radiation is an infrared emitter or Quartz infrared heat source and temperature-controlled. The intensity of the source of infrared radiation is adjustable. An independent claim is included for a method.
