PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which can keep a strong suction force over a long period of time, and can reduce the maintenance of a dust collecting filter. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner is equipped with a dust removing means 12 which removes dust and dirt deposited to a filter section 5, and at the same time, is constituted in such a manner that a porous film 26 made of PTFE is arranged on the suction air upstream side surface of the filter section for which dust and dirt are removed by the dust removing means. Dust and dirt are caught by the surface of the very fine porous film 26 made of PTFE, and also since the dust releasing property of the PTFE is favorable, deposited dust and dirt can be removed to an approximately satisfactory degree by simply applying a vibration of the filter section by using the dust removing means 12, and the suction force can be maintained over a long period of time.
