PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase viscosity stability and to improve usability and stability in a skin care preparation for external use that comprises anα-hydroxy acid, salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid and/or phenol in large formulation amounts and has low pH. SOLUTION: This skin care preparation for external use comprises 10-70 mass %, based on the total of the skin care preparation for external use, of (a) one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of anα-hydroxy acid, salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid and phenol and (b) gellan gum and/or native gellan gum and has pH 0.1-3.5.
