PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer having a cutter constituted by coupling a second module with a first module in which a thermal paper delivered from a thermal paper roll is set stably for the thermal paper cutter. SOLUTION: A second module 120 provided with a thermal head 112 and a movable edge member 113 is coupled with a first module 110 provided with a platen roller 122 and a fixed edge member 123, and a fixed edge member positioning mechanism 150 is provided. The positioning mechanism 150 has retaining members 151 and 161. The retaining members 151 and 161 secure the fixed edge member 123 while shifting in the direction receding from the movable edge member 113 under a state where the second module 120 is coupled with the first module 110.
