PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device capable of performing frame rate conversion between image signals without requiring 2-3 pulldown or a kinescope recorder. SOLUTION: An image pickup element 2 applies photoelectric conversion to the image of an object, and outputs an image signal for each frame in a first frame rate. A field rate conversion processor 7 converts the image signal of the first frame rate into the television signal of a second frame rate having a value smaller than the value of the first frame rate. A frame rate conversion processor 10 converts the image signal of the first frame rate into the movie film signal of a third frame rate having a value smaller than the value of the first frame rate and different from the value of the second frame rate.
