681,687. Bayonet-joint fastenings. SCINTILLA, Ltd. May 24, 1951 [June, 17, 1950], No. 12220/51. Class 44 A bayonet-joint fastening e.g. for a tool holder comprises a socket member in the form of a tube 1 having a bore 2 and two internal grooves 3, 4, two pairs of longitudinal slots 5, 6, at right angles being formed between the groove 3 and the end and one pair of slots 7 being formed between the grooves 3, 4. A stud-member 8 in the form of an elongated plate 13 carries two sets of side lugs 9, 10 spaced further apart than the grooves 3, 4. The stud is inserted into the bore 2, the lugs 9, 10 passing through the pairs of slots 5, 7 and is then turned through 90 degrees so that the lugs 9 engage in the slots 6 and the lugs 10 bear on the outer surface 4<SP>1</SP> of the groove 4. The stud is thereby prevented from rotation. A screw 11 engaged in the bore 2 may be turned to bear with a central recess 12 on the tapered end of the stud to prevent longitudinal movement between the stud and socket. |
