RESIN-COATED METAL SHEET

A resin-coated metal sheet comprising a metal sheet, an under resin layer containing hydrophilic copolyester superimposed on at least one major surface of the metal sheet and an upper resin layer containing polyester, the polyester containing a diol component consisting of 1 to 10 mol% of diol derivative of alicyclic compound and 99 to 90 mol% of ethylene glycol and a dicarboxylic acid component of terephthalic acid, superimposed on the under resin layer, wherein the total amount of cyclic trimers of alkylene terephthalate contained in the upper and under resin layers is <= 0.9 mass%. In the production of canned food by the use of this resin-coated metal sheet, even after retort treatment, any white powdering phenomenon or whitening phenomenon would not occur on the external surface of the can to thereby in no way deteriorate the external surface design of canned food.
