PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrate decompression method wherein facilities are downsized, system efficiency is improved, and the amount of vent gas discharged during the decompression process is reduced by enabling uninterrupted decompression in the hydrate generating system, and to provide a decompression apparatus. SOLUTION: The hydrate generation system, wherein a hydrate is generated through reaction between water and gas under a pressure higher than the atmospheric pressure and the generated hydrate is decompressed to the atmospheric pressure before it is taken out, has a pair of decompression vessels. The first decompression vessel takes in the hydrate accompanied by a high-pressure gas and, in the second decompression vessel, concurrently, the hydrate taken in previously is decompressed, gas generated during decompression is collected, and the hydrate is taken out. Henceforth, by using this hydrate decompression method, decompression steps are alternately undertaken by the first decompression vessel and the second decompression vessel for the uninterrupted implementation of hydrate decompression.
