<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high purity 1,1,2,2-tetrakis(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethane compound in a high yield and at a high production efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the 1,1,2,2-tetrakis(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethane compound represented by formula (1) (wherein R is a halogen atom or an organic group; n is an integer of 0-4; and when n is ≥2, R may be the same or different) comprises reacting a phenol with glyoxal or an glyoxal derivative in the presence of a perchlorate and an acid catalyst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
