PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sorting equipment which sorts articles by store, and by category in a store in a space-saving and cost-saving manner. SOLUTION: The sorting equipment has a pool line 2 having a plurality of gates for continuously accommodating a plurality of cases 4, sorts the cases 4 in the order of the cases arriving in front of the pool line 2, and allocates each store and each category in the store to the gates. At each gate, the cases 4 are accommodated by the store and by the category in the store. The plurality of cases 4 accommodated in each gate are taken out based on the capacity of the case 4 to be mounted on a "basket vehicle" to carry the cases 4 to the store. When the take-out is completed, the store and the category in the store are newly allocated to the gate at which the take-out is completed. In this configuration, a device to perform the primary sorting of articles is omitted in a first stage of the pool line 2, and articles are efficiently sorted in a space-saving and cost-saving manner.
