It is possible to provide a data selection device and a navigation device capable of easily and rapidly selecting one data from a plurality of data. The navigation device (100) includes a display control unit (111) for acquiring name data and genre information on each location data from a map data storage unit (105), generating display data for displaying a name of each location data arranged for each genre information and arranged in the same hierarchy according to the acquired name data and genre information, and performing its display control; and an operation unit (106) for selecting a genre to which the location data to be selected by the user belongs and selecting a name of one location data from the selected genre. The display control unit (111) displays the genre selected by the operation unit (106) interlocked with the selection operation executed by using the operation unit (106) or the operation unit (106) generates display data when a location data name is selected and performs its display control.
