PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape body inspection apparatus for quickly executing a precise inspection to the front and rear of a tape body. SOLUTION: The tape body inspection apparatus comprises a moving mechanism for moving a magnetic taper 10 along the longitudinal direction; a magnetic surface inspection section 6b that has an inspection light irradiation section 7a for applying inspection light La to a magnetic surface 10a of the magnetic tape 10 traveling in the longitudinal direction, and a CCD camera 7b for receiving reflection light Lb reflected from a magnetic surface 10a, and inspects the side of the magnetic surface 10a of the magnetic tape 10, based on the light intensity of reflection light Lb received by the CCD camera 7b; and a rear inspection section 6a that has the inspection light irradiation section 7a for applying the inspection light La to a rear 10b of the magnetic tape 10 moving in the longitudinal direction, and the CCD camera 7b for receiving the reflection light Lb reflected by the rear 10b, and inspects the side of the rear 10b of the magnetic taper 10, based on the light intensity of the reflection light Lb received by the CCD camera 7b.
