PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silencer of a pneumatic hammer tool capable of fully exhibiting noise reducing effect, while maintaining a tool performance of the pneumatic hammer tool and capable of easily performing chipping work with easy maintenance. SOLUTION: A silencer is provided for suppressing noise generated during exhausting compressed air in an pneumatic hammer tool 1, wherein a hammer piston 4, sliding in a cylinder 3 which is provided in a tool body, reciprocates by feeding of the compressed air, to carry out the hammering action of a chisel. The silencer thus constituted comprises a casing 12 for surrounding an outer periphery of a cylinder 3 so as to cover an exhaust port 6, provided in the cylinder 3, and the casing 12 comprises exhaust ports 16a and 16b which passes through inside and to the outside, and an absorbing material is inserted, which can ventilate between the inner peripheral surface of the casing 12 and the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder 3.
