PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein it has been necessary for a printer to have a complex device such as a paper discharge tray capable of moving right and left, a sorter device or the like in order to discriminate printed materials discharged therefrom by each kind, and to discharge a paper in a condition that the printed materials can be readily discriminated by each kind by improving a paper supply mechanism of the printer using a roll of paper. SOLUTION: This printer comprises at least a printing section for performing the printing based on print data transmitted from a host computer, and a paper supply section for supplying printing paper to the printing section. The paper supply section has a paper holding means for holding a printing paper, a paper moving means capable of moving the paper holding means in a direction perpendicular to the paper supplying direction, and a movement control means for controlling the operation of the paper moving means. A supplying position of the printing paper at the printing section and a discharge position of the printed paper are changed based on the position of the paper holding means.
