A system of cutting blades, especially for a press duct of a fodder harvester, has two sets of retracting blades, with at least one blade (5) separately mounting to the other blades (3). The front ends of the blades have a pivot mounting on a fixed bar (6) with the rear ends of the blades gripped by crank arms to raise or retract the blades. One set of blades is controlled by a first set of crank arms (9) fitted to a first control shaft (10) which is rotated by a servo cylinder (13) and a drive crank arm (12). The other set of blades is controlled by a second set of crank arms (15) pivot mounted on the first control shaft and rotated about the first control shaft by a second servo cylinder (22) and a double armed drive crank (18). Each servo cylinder is fitted with a separate hydraulic overload protection to retract its set of blades.
