PROCESSING PICTURE SIGNALS FOR A COLOR SEQUENTIAL DISPLAY

The invention relates to a method for processing picture signals representing a series of pictures that are to be displayed on a color sequential display device. In order to enable a presentation of high quality images using a color sequential display device at reduced costs, it is proposed that received picture signals are separated (12) into at least three color components for each picture, which at least three color components are to be displayed sequentially on the display device (16). Further, motion is detected (13) from one picture to the next in the received picture signals. A motion compensation (15) of at least two color components of a picture is then performed at the same temporal instance, which color components are to be displayed immediately one after the other. Finally, the at least three color components are provided for display. The invention relates equally to an apparatus and a system comprising means for realizing the proposed method.
