PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the speed of a processing for color conversion while conducting an interpolating arithmetic operation without augmenting the data size of an LUT. SOLUTION: A lattice-point positional data Ict indicating the position of a plurality of referring lattice points and interpolating positional data Hr, Hg and Hb indicating positions among a plurality of the lattice points are associated and generated from the input coordinate values Ri, Gi and Bi of an input color-specification system. Whether or not the generated lattice-point positional data Ict coincides with a lattice-point positional data Ict<SB>-</SB>OLD stored in a reference lattice-point information storage section A4 (a storage means) is decided. Interpolation coefficients Hr<SB>-</SB>OLD, Hg<SB>-</SB>OLD, Hb<SB>-</SB>OLD corresponding to lattice-point positional data Ict<SB>-</SB>OLD stored are read when a coincidence is decided. The interpolation coefficients Hr, Hg and Hb are obtained from each coordinate value stored at a plurality of the lattice points indicated by the lattice-point positional data Ict generated when a discordance is decided. An output coordinate value OUT is obtained by the interpolating arithmetic operation by using the obtained interpolation coefficients and interpolating positional data Rf, Gf and Bf.
