PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress blooming, to simplify a control action in an electronic shutter performance, and to improve an operating margin. SOLUTION: There are provided an imaging region wherein there is arranged in a matrix shape a unit pixel 22A having a photo diode D1 generating a signal charge, a read-out transistor which reads the signal charge and outputs the signal charge to a detection node ND2, an amplifying transistor 27 which amplifies the signal charge output to the detection node ND2 and outputs a pixel signal, a reset transistor 25 which exhausts the signal charge residing in the detection node ND2 to an exhausting semiconductor layer, and an address transistor 26 selecting an address of the photo diode D1; and a signal output line VSL reading the output pixel signal. A first semiconductor layer of the photo diode D1 and the exhausting semiconductor layer are formed so as to be overlapped at a predetermined interval along the depth direction.
