PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element capable of efficiently taking out emitted light by heightening the light transmissivity of an electron injection electrode without lowering light emitting efficiency at a light emitting layer. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element has an organic layer including a light emitting layer between a hole injection electrode and an electron injection layer. The electron injection layer has a lamination structure of a metal thin film containing gold in a form of MgAu or the like, and an auxiliary electrode composed of a transparent conductive metal oxide thin film formed on the above.
