PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read both a fixed original and a carried original with high image quality. SOLUTION: In the case that the height of original faces between the original fixing reading and the original skimming-through reading differs by H1-H2=Δ1, a step difference is provided between a first rail part 73A and a second rail part 73B of rails 73 for guiding a shared read unit 74 for reading the image of the original, and the height H3 of the first rail part 73A and the height H4 of the second rail part 73B are differentiated by H3-H4=Δ2. Then a relation ofΔ1=Δ2 is set by matching the step differenceΔ2 of the rails 73 with the height differenceΔ1 of the original faces described as above, that is, by deviating the height of the second rail part 73B by the height of a jump base 44.
