PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life and power-saving cold-cathode fluorescent lamp by suppressing entry of discharged electricity into a space between a glass tube wall of the lamp and an outer surface of an electrode, and thus by preventing the glass tube wall from becoming blackened or from overheating. SOLUTION: The cold-cathode fluorescent lamp comprises a discharge medium (3) enclosed in a glass tube (1) having a phosphor film (2) formed on an inner surface thereof, and electrodes (4) attached to both ends of the glass tube in a sealed state. Part or the whole of the outer surface of each of the electrodes is covered with a dielectric material.
