PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic relay in which operation sound is reduced for use for a battery car and a hybrid car. SOLUTION: The electromagnetic relay 1 is provided with a fixed contact 10, a movable contact 25 in which electric connection and electric rejection with the fixed contact 10 are possible, a movable member 40 which is movable in a direction approaching the movable contact point 25 and in a direction moving away from the movable contact point 25 and which has a magnetic material, a coil 35 capable of demagnetizing or magnetizing the movable member 40, and a cabinet 30 as a magnetic circuit forming member having a magnetic material contacted with one part of the movable member 40 in a magnetized state of the movable member 40. The movable member 40 has the upper part iron core 42 and the lower part iron core 41 as a first and a second movable members arranged along its moving direction. When the coil 35 makes the lower part iron core 42 and the lower part iron core 41 in a magnetized state, after the lower part iron core 42 is contacted with the cabinet 30, the lower part iron core 41 is attracted to the lower part iron core 42, moves in the direction of approaching the fixed contact 10, and makes the movable contact 25 be contacted with the fixed contact 10. When the coil 35 makes the lower part iron core 42 and the lower part iron core 41 in the demagnetized state, after the lower part iron core 41 moves toward a low part 32, the lower part iron core 41 moves toward the lower part iron core 41.
