An antenna system for a vehicle (V) including a front windshield glass (12a) and a rear windshield (12b) is disclosed. The antenna system comprises an antenna unit (14a) including a radiating element (20a, 20b) electromagnetically coupled to an excitation element (22). The radiating element (20a, 20b) is coupled to the front windshield glass (12a), and the excitation element (22) is positioned on a passenger compartment interior surface (23) of the front windshield glass (12a). The antenna system also comprises a high-gain antenna unit (14b) including first radiating elements (34a-34d), a second radiating element (36), a 90 degree phase shift circuit (34e), and a low noise amplifier that is coupled to the phase shift circuit (34e). The first radiating elements (34a-34d) receive signals through the rear windshield glass (12b). the antenna unit (14a) and the high-gain antenna unit (14b) may function in a diversity antenna configuration. |
