<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recoat structure as a reinforcing structure in a connecting part of optical fibers and suitable for a module assembly where a large number of components are assembled. <P>SOLUTION: A coated fiber (13) in a welding part (14) is covered with a first coating material (15) made of resin having a low Young's modulus, and a second coating material (16) made of resin having a high Young's modulus is applied over the first coating material (15) and the sheath. As the second coating material (16) is brought into contact with a cross sectional part (17) of the removed sheath, a wedge-like protruding circumference part (18) is formed by the second coating material (16) between the proximity of the cross-sectional part of the sheath and the first coating material. This enhances the joining force between the sheath (12) and the second coating material (16) and prevents direct influences of external stress on the welding part. This structure suppresses an increase in the diameter of the reinforcing material and improves reliability against deforming stress added on the joined part of optical fibers. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
